Class 1 Leading Rein Combination. Riders 10 years and under – special rosettes to all competitors not placed. Lead rein attached to the nose band. Snaffle bridle.

Class 2 Best Novice Combination Open. May not be led but may have handler walking beside them. Will be asked to walk and trot only. Suitable for children just moving off lead-rein and young/novice horses requiring experience. Snaffle bridle only.

Class 3 Best Rider. Open. May include a small jump (optional)

Class 4 Family Horse or Pony. Suitable for most members of the family to ride, not to be led.

Class 5 Best Pony Club Pony / Riding Club Horse. If sufficient entries class may be split 14.2hh and under and 14.3hh and over. May include a small jump (optional)

Class 6 Mountain & Moorland Ridden. ERIKSEN-PAYNE PERTPETUAL CUP Full & Part- Bred. Registered or unregistered. Open. May be led. Lead rein to be attached to noseband.

Class 7 Veteran Horse or Pony. Ridden. Horse or pony to be 15 years or over.

Class 8 CHAMPIONSHIP – THE NICK TURNER PERPETUAL TROPHY 1st and 2nd Prize winners from Classes 1 – 7.


Class 9 FANCY DRESS. Adults may accompany children if wished. May be ridden, led or in-hand. Special rosettes to all not placed. Entries in advance please.

Class 10 Tack and Turnout. Open. May be ridden or in-hand. May be led.

Class 11 Best Coloured Horse or Pony – Ridden or In-hand. Including coloureds, spotted and roans. Judged 50% on Riding/Handling, 50% on horse’s markings.

Class 12 Mountain and Moorland – In-hand. Full or part-bred Connemara, Dales, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Shetland, Welsh Section A, B, C and D. Pure Bred Registered or Unregistered. Unplaited, in natural state.

Class 13 Best Cob/ Heavy Breed – Ridden or In-hand. Including traditional, show and family cobs, Shire, Suffolk Punch. May be split ridden/in-hand if entries are sufficient.

Class 14 Veteran Horse or Pony – In-hand. Horse or pony to be 15 years or over.

Class 15 Best Small Breed/Miniature – In-hand or Ridden. Ponies to be 12hh and under. May be led. Special rosette to highest placed handler/rider under 8yo. Maybe split ridden/in- hand if entries are sufficient.

Class 16 CHAMPIONSHIP – PERPETUAL TROPHY 1st and 2nd Prize winners from Classes 12-16

Class 17 Handsomest Gelding – Open

Class 18 Prettiest Mare – Open

Class 19 Horse or Pony the Judge would most like to take home – Open

RING 3: SHOWJUMPING Commencing: 9.30am promptly.

  • 9.30am – 10.15 am CLEAR ROUND JUMPING (£2.00 from Secretaries tent)
  • SHOWJUMPING CLASSES Commencing 10.30am promptly (at approximately 12.30 there will be a half hour break)
  • Judges: TBC

Class 20 Cradle Stakes Jumping – Jumps not to exceed 1’0”. May be Led.

Class 21 Mini Novice Jumping – PERTPETUAL HILTON CUP Jumps not to exceed 1’6”. Combination not to have won first place in a jumping class.

Class 22 Novice Show Jumping – Jumps not to exceed 2’0”. Open.

Class 23 Open Show Jumping – Jumps not to exceed 2’6”. Open.


Entries on the day: £4.50 per class May be made by cash or card, payable at the Secretary’s tent.

Entries in advance: £4.00 per class Payable by BACs or card. All advance entries to be received and paid for by 6pm Thursday 29 June 2023. Advance entry fees are non-refundable.
Please email  with the following details:

  • Class numbers
  • Horses name (and age if veteran class)
  • Rider’s name (and age if 11 or under)

Once your entry is received, we will send you the amount payable and BACS details or a payment link for card payment. Please note an additional £2 per rider is payable for contribution to First Aid.

*Novice defined as rider or pony combination not to have been placed 1st – 3rd at county level or above.
